Elephant Ears

This blog is dedicated to the political happenings in the Valley and Southwest Virginia. As the the name implies, this blog will have posts based on what is heard by this elephant's (GOPer's) ears. It is also a great treat to get while at the county fair or a carnival.

Webb for VP?

I have noticed that since the SOTU response by Sen Webb that some people are now saying he would make a good VP candidate. I just thought that was funny since Mark Warner was once considered a presidential candidate and is now still considered a VP possibility.

Wouldn't it be ironic if the guy he helped get elected ends up beating him out for the VP spot in '08?

Just a thought.

Pfff, you've got to stop listening to people who think the last politician they heard speak is VP or POTUS material.

Last year there were some folks talking about a Obama-Kaine ticket ... riiiiight.

Sen. Webb will be the next SecDef if the Democrats win ... and the way you conservatives talk about McCain, Romney, and Giuliani, it looks pretty certain.

Webb has the temporary rockstar spotlight, but these sorts of things are forgotten quickly.

    Sec of Defense, definitely.

    Irony upon ironies . . .
Four months ago? George Allen for President, Mark Warner for Vice-President

Today. Jim Gilmore for President, Jim Webb for Vice-President.

BTW, Jim Webb would make a TERRIBLE SecDef, just look at his crybaby tenure as Navy Secretary.

Chris, he will be sick of being a Senator by 08 so he probably would take a SecDef job.
When was the last time he stayed at a job for 2 years?

Who would Kaine put in for Webb if he did? You think Mark Warner? I've also heard MW has a standing invitation to be Sec. Treasury if he wants it from anyone.

My thinking would be Kaine would put a place-holder, and older guy like Wilder in the Senate and run himself in 2012.
