Dems in the Valley
Republitarian reports that there were 350 in attendance for the Jim Webb fundraiser in Harrisonburg last night. Creigh Deeds, Brian Moran and I think Tim Kaine were the special guests. This is a good attendance I guess, since the dems are at such a disadvantage number wise in the Valley. I don't know how many of those people were from HBurg/Rockingham and how many were from surroounding counties.
Even so, to put this in perspective; Page County Sheriff Danny Presgraves had a fundraiser for George Allen several weeks ago where 820 people attended. The dems may be having big events; but 820 people in Page County is amazing (HBurg/Rockingham has 100k+, Page has 23k). My understanding is that most of the people there were in fact from Page as well.
George Allen is going to roast Jim Webb in the Valley.
Bring it on.

It's interesting that Kaine actually won in Staunton and Harrisonburg—if I'm correct. So I think it's quite possible that Webb could pull some of the valley cities.

I think its unlikely that Webb carries either of those, but even if he does; the margins in Rockingham and Augusta will be staggering for Allen.

The valley is solid...for the moment. The movment of individuals from NOVA will start showing in the valley...and very quick in more "urban" areas.

Allen needs to run up big Valley margins to counter other areas where Webb will win big(Nova, 3rd) and other where Webb can cut margins(SWVA). This election will be determined by the size of Allen's margin in the Valley and the Metro Richmond counties, mark it down...

Agreed 11:57. Thats pretty much how every election is determined in Virginia.
10:11, thats hard to say right now. Currently most of the growth is communters in Warren and Shenandoah Counties and they are having massive GOP growth there.
The retirees on the other hand may change that dynamic; but it will take alot of them to tip the balance of the Valley.

Danny Presgraves is one of the most corrupt hacks in local politics I've ever had the pleasure to know. Why does it not surprise me that he is hanging out with Allen?
