Blog Conference
Just to give my take on the upcoming blog conference, I will say it sounds like it will be a failure.
Since the main 4 blogs in Virginia (from both sides of the aisle no less) will not be in attendance, I am not sure the event will end up being very successful.
Here is the list of attendees. I also am wondering how many of those on the list even have a blog. I do not recognize a good number of the names.
Hopefully next year the organizers will try to work with more bloggers to ensure there is a good group in attendance, instead of having only one or two people working on it and hoping it fits everyone else's schedule.

Thanks Kilo
Hopefully if enough people voice their displeasure with the way the conference was organized, it will be done better next year.

What's kind of sad is they could fix this years if they wanted to.

You may be right anon, but they have already scheduled the speakers and stuff like that so I dont know how much could be changed.

They could still fix it, but it would require the behind the scenes work that has so far been a failure.

Give me a break. This year's conference is great. People who are complaining are acting like 10 year olds.

Second of all, plenty of people from Raising Kaine are coming.
Third of all, Ben's not going because he thinks there's a conspiracy out to get him or some such nonsense. Ask him about the 12 point plan...

Very true VC, even so I think they should probably consult at least 5 or 6 bloggers from different ends of the stick to plan this thing next time.
No big deal this year, just something to think about for the next one.

Thing is, I think they did consult both ends before last year's and everyone who went last year was invited to give input for this year. It's just a matter of who actually stepped up to the plate to participate in the last year.
I also think saying the state's "main 4 blogs" won't be there is misleading. What constitutes "main" blogs? You're also looking at a summit that's really trying to focus on and ethical and journalistic approach to blogging, which automatically blows two of those four out of the water.
I think people just have bruised egos and need to realize that the VA blogosphere does not revolve around just them. This is about ALL Virginia bloggers.

Main 4 meaning 4 most well read blogs.
Anyway, how many bloggers were consulted this year about what it should be about and who the speakers should be?

I have no conspiracy theory. I do have some facts about the way certain people are planning this to slam NLS. As anon said:

Nice.

HA! NLS thinks that this summit is part of a huge conspiracy against him. What a kook.
Do you know which blog is the most well-read in Virginia? QandO. Followed by? Beltway Blogroll. Guess what? They're both speaking. "TooConservative" isn't even a pimple on an elephant's behind in comparison to those blogs.

Gosh, the other RK bloggers are signing up. Seems that only three "big blogs" aren't going now. And of those three, only one will really be missed.
