Elephant Ears

This blog is dedicated to the political happenings in the Valley and Southwest Virginia. As the the name implies, this blog will have posts based on what is heard by this elephant's (GOPer's) ears. It is also a great treat to get while at the county fair or a carnival.

The Debate That Wasn't

Well folks, unfortunately we did not have a debate tonight. You dems didn't get the decisive Lohr butt kicking you had all hoped for. The Valley Family Forum (a division of the Virginia Family Foundation) hosted a debate tonight between Lohr and Fulk, but Fulk was unable to attend due to sickness. My thoughts go out to him for a fast recovery. Even so, it is unfortunate that Fulk's toughest critics, social conservative voters, did not get answers to some very important topics as a result of this absence. It is a shame Fulk wasn't able to answer these tough questions.
Wait til you see the new Lohr ad. Fulk missing this debate plus the new ad will be very bad for Fulk. This may end up being the turning point in the election. Lohr is going after Fulk on the social issues, and Fulk was unable to squash those accusations tonight Lets see what happens from here.

My sources also said that Republitarian was in attendance tonight and they were upset that he did not stand up to say a few words about Fulk; since he seems to never have a problem doing so any other time.

Republitarian doesn't work for the campaign and it would have been very improper for him to speak about or for Lowell at the Forum. It is a true shame that Lowell missed this debate, but don't be fooled that ads about social issues will turn this campaign to Matt.

The survey calls that tried to make Lowell sound like Mr. Liberal backfired -- so will anything that tries to make Matt sound morally superior. The gay marriage issue won't gain Matt any votes he doesn't already have. People are a lot more sensible than you realize.

None of your sources came up and said high, but tell Audrey I said high, anyway.

I spoke with Welty...there will most likely be a rescheduling.

There was talk of me standing in for Lowell......but Davis said he wouldn't wish me on his worst enemy.

Tell your sources to have the courage to challenge me to my face. They had every opportuniy tonight.

Have I said one nice thing about Lowell, if so, what is it?

Lowell missing a debate is an issue? Matt has missed four. He just doesn't show up.

"A turning point in the election"? Give me a break. The man got sick. He's only human. Fulk is still the candidate with miles more integrity and experience. Tonight won't even cause a ripple in the campaigns.

    Spin this all you want
Fulk "sickness" hits right at the time when he would be forced to answer some of those questions he has been all too vague on!

Oh by the way I think GOP was pocking fun at you republitarian get it....

If I was the Lore camp I would act like I don't exist. Of course, that's probably pretty hard to do. "Pocking" fun at me isn't the wisest move either.

According to today's DNR, the debate will be rescheduled. I don't see how Lohr's camp can capitalize on this, although I'm sure they'll try, when Matt has missed four joint appearances so far. Note that Lowell didn't just bow out and send in a surrogate.

As far as the tv ad war, Lohr's attendance is shaping into a major campaign issue. How does this play to his advantage?

Republitarian says Lohr's new ad lies about Fulk wanting to restore voting rights to felons. If the ad does lie, Fulk will fight back and in all likelihood win the election. Lohr has been warned and warned about not telling the truth. He deserves to lose.

republitarian pocking fun at you is what the majority of people in the Valley do. Now granted you have your little misguided followers but you are a joke!

You have no power or influence what so ever republitarian its time you accept that.

If you are so holy and have all the answers please run for office any office. You will lose so badly it would be one for the record books.

I didn't know I had any followers. Can you please name a few? I'd like to meet them sometime. Have I ever said I have any power or influence? You said that....not me....it must have at least crossed your mind.

I never said I had all the answers....I just call em' like I see em".

Your feeble attempt to bait me into running for office is juvenile.

Oh republitarian so humble! Oh come now I read your blog and the misguided take your word as if it were gospel. Misguided is the word because you make statements with little or no proof and the liberal lost believe it.

    You are pompouse wind bag!

I see the Republicans have resorted to killing the messenger. That's classy guys. Don't get angry at Myron just because its true.

Actually anon, I think Repubs are sick of reading about how great Fulk is and horrible Lohr is.
Both have their problems and both have good parts.
They are finally coming out of the woodwork and telling you all about it.
I am no longer the sole defender of Matt Lohr on the blogosphere.

By the way Republitarian, my sources told me you should have done it.
That was their words, not mine (and my source is not Audrey, I have not spoken with her in quite a while).

Is it that guy that stood in the back that I've seen at every other campaign event, the one with the almost shaved head? Or is it Matt himself? Or maybe Matt's mommy?

Notice all the Matt defenders want to remain anonymous....Mmmm....wonder why that is?

  • At 10/02/2005 11:17 PM, Blogger GOPHokie said…

Its not Matt or anyone related to him.
I dont know if its that guy, since I have not been at a event for quite a while.
By the way, David Briggman is the only person who isnt anonymous. You could also be considered since most everyone knows you as well.
Everyone else is an anon, so dont act like its only Lohr defenders.
