Polling in the 26th
Word on the street is that Fulk has done a poll and it shows him up 7-8 points. My source is very reliable so I assume they have heard this truthfully.
Does anyone else know anything about this?
Also, if this is true, why hasn't Fulk released it? After all, a Democrat leading in the valley should want to brag about leading, right Republitarian?

Haven't heard a word about the poll. But no, I don't think they'd brag about it. That would just stir up panic, and possibly support and $, among the Rs, unless your poster of yesterday is correct and people are abandoning ship. I don't quite buy that. I do get a sense of quiet confidence from the Fulk campaign. They expect to win. Looks like they might be right. Fabulous!

Saywhat, You're exactly correct. A democrat would remain silent if he had the lead. Remember... Matt "should " have the the lead. The Fulk camp is setting pretty right now.
BTW, they induced labor on Andrea Lohr yesterday....does anyone know what they had and the babies name?

saywhat hit it on the head. Making a big deal out of the poll could backfire. Makes a lot more sense to run as the underdog. However, even if you source is correct, this is still Lohr's to loose. Fact is there is a large population that will vote that is not pay attention. Those people will break R because that who they always vote for. What's more there is a large contingent of people (~40%)who will vote R regardless of who is the candidate. As I have often said, Jesus himself would loose in the Valley if he ran as a Democrat. I think Fulk needs to be at least 10 points up going into the last two weeks to squeek out a victory.

So how will they fight?
At 9/09/2005 2:26 PM, Anonymous said…
They don't need to really fight. Fulk is, for all intents and purposes a blank slate. He's a farmer who was on the school board, pretty much like Matt Lohr. All Lohr has to do is run some ads and mail some mail with nice pictures of him and Kilgore and they're done. So long as they don't panic and try to grow a brain, they'll coast.

Anon 3:26 --
You either have never really listened to Lowell Fulk or you're a Fulk supporter trying to get us roused. He is not a blank slate. He is, as Not Larry has said, the best House of Delegates Dem candidate in the state. He is smart, smart, smart, and looks even more so when you listen to him and Lohr at the same time.
You really underestimate the intelligence of the voters of the 26th.

unfortunately, anon 3:26 is right. The people who blog do not represent the average voter. Most voters are far less informed. Almost no voters will hear these guys speak or see them at any event together. Most voter will vote party because that is the easier than paying attention. Lets face it, even if you do pay attention many will support Lohr anyway. Look at his supporters who blog even though he has pushed polled, has demonstrated himself to be lazy, and has given no indication that he will be anything more than a rubber stamp.
If Fulk wants to when he has got to go negative. He has to make Lohr unacceptable. He cannot give people a reason to vote for him, he needs to give them a reason to not vote for Lohr. He has got plenty of ammo, I just don't no if he has got the backbone to use it.

Lowell doesn't need to use them. It's all ready out there. The DNR will be doing feature articles on all the negative stuff we've put out. Just wait.

Hokie,
Is your "reliable source" the same one you've been using? What are the chances that these are actually the numbers from the Lohr poll? Maybe that's why the local pubs all look so down and somber. Lohr's people are seen in the community getting down right mean with people who don't want to allow Lohr yard signs and are putting them up anyway. They then tell people that if they take them down they'll be subject to a $1,000 fine! Lohr's father Gary has been said to be threatening to "ruin reputations" of people who have Fulk signs displayed. Nice job of winning the local vote Matt.........

I don't really have a "usual" source. They pointed out specifically that this was the Fulk poll numbers. I must tell you this is a Republican. They just said this is word on the street. Thats why I was wondering if anyone else had heard this.
Apparently no one has.

Has anyone else noticed how many "Republicans for Fulk" bumperstickers are on cars?
Wow! I've seen "Gun Owners for Fulk" and "Farmers for Fulk" too. I've also noticed that the Fulk yard signs are in people's yards while the Lohr signs are going up on state rights of way. Pretty telling don't you think?

WOW Gerry!!! You must be sh...ing me!!! I saw the Farmers for Fulk sticker too, and I was so excited I almost wet myself. It was on the back of a neat little hybrid with a JMU professor at the wheel!!! I recognized him from the collective organic vegatable farm. I love those GREEN stickers, cause it reminds me that Lowell loves Mother Earth just like I do.
Peace!!!

Yea I gotta tell you folks, if bumper stickers determine the election, Lohr is kicking butt in Hburg. Everytime I go there, I see at least 10 Lohr bumper stickers, I have seen 2 Fulk stickers since I have been watching.
I have not seen Republicans for Fulk either.

A poll with Fulk ahead? If this was done by Fulks campaign it is not an accurate poll. It probably went something like this (you politicaly informed folks will get this sorry you uninformed go back to doing yoga or whatever you liberals do )
POLL EXAMPLE
"Sir how are you voting "
(Answer not what poller was looking for)
"Really did you know...(insert whatever you like here maybe something like do you know _____ likes young boys."
"no I did not"
"So with this knowledge how are you voting now"
(WOW look answer changes)

Wow Fulk has the "collective organic farm" vote! JMU prof. vote too! Oh man next thing you'll be telling me is he has the NEA vote also! We all know that's a fiar cross section of 26th voters don't we...
A Republican not getting hippie votes and the liberal educators vote...up is down and down is up!

Seems like a nerve was hit here! The fact that Fulk is kicking your butt really has your teeth on edge, huh? Thou protesteth too much!!!!! Trailing smoke, the Lohr plane began to lose altitude..........................................................

GOPHokie,
Caught in a lie again! You said you haven't been here for over three weeks, and yet you profess to know the ratio of bumper stickers? Not much on truth are you? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!
And bizzaroboys, you better check the pickup trucks. You're missing alot!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the bumber sticker wars depends where you are. In Broadway, Fulk way out number Lohr. But in the Central Country, i.e. Melrose, Lacy, Lohr has him hands down. Harrisonburg seems split depending on neighborhood. In general I think I see more Lohr signs than Fulk signs, but I don't know if that means anything. I saw tons of Kerry signs and he still got stomped.
It is most interesting that the Fulk signs are prominant in the Broadway area. An area that is familiar with both candidates.

What exactly are the boundaries/precincts of the 26th? I've looked but cannot find this info.
Those who know both men but support one over the other are the best endorsements. The Fulk campaign would do well to get their Broadway supporters to do some targeted calling/visiting with their friends further south in the precinct. Fulk will take Hburg, don't you think?

Anon 1:56, I came home this past weekend, and Lohr was winning the bumper sticker war before I went back to school.
saywhat, the boundaries are as follows:
the northern boundary of Bridgewater (Dayton is in the district, Bridgewater and Mt. Crawford are not)
anything north of 33 to the WV line from HBurg,
north of 33 to Keezletown (Rte 620 I think it is)
the district then goes north to the Shen Co. line
the precincts are as follows:
All of Hburg, Broadway, Timberville, Fulks Run, Bergton, Lacey Spring, 10th Legion, Singers Glen, Edom, Melrose, Mt. Clinton, Keezletown, Dayton and Silver Lake.

And by the way, I think Fulk will win the city.
He will still need to win it by 500+ votes in order to win the election. I'd say it will be more like last time (Fulks wins the city by 5 votes and Lohr wins the county by >750 votes).
At 9/12/2005 3:02 PM, Anonymous said…
GOPHokie is right. The Burg big inorder to make up for the loses in the county (except for B'way) is the path to Fulk victory.
At 9/12/2005 8:52 PM, GOPHokie said…
Wait. Why does everyone think Fulk is gonna win Broadway?
I mean sure, 90% of you think hes gonna win everything but, Weatherholtz lost by 3 votes on Broadway.
I think Lohr will win Broadway, as well as every other precinct in the county.
Contrary to Republitarian's opinion.
At 9/12/2005 8:54 PM, GOPHokie said…
One other thing, I think there is a possibilty Lohr wins the city.
The YDs got alot of new registrations last time and there was no Kilgore-Bolling-McDonnel.
Fulk is gonna have a hard time, regardless what you folks think.
Thanks for your reasonable thinking pro-life dem. I appreciate it.
