Elephant Ears

This blog is dedicated to the political happenings in the Valley and Southwest Virginia. As the the name implies, this blog will have posts based on what is heard by this elephant's (GOPer's) ears. It is also a great treat to get while at the county fair or a carnival.

9th District Fundraising

Allen Dudley has raised a total of 203k and has 11k on hand. He has only received 1000 since the filing.
Eric Ferguson has raised a total of 159k and has no money on hand. He has received 16k since the filing.
I still continue to believe Dudley will win as a result of incumbency and the superior fundraising.
This could be a hot race in 07 though if Ferguson starts raising money early and keeps his visibility up, not to mention there won't be a statewide race to help push GOP votes then either.

You know, a Mudcat is not a very admired creature, eating from the bottom of the river and being known to hang around the outlets from sewage treatment plants. A certain Mudcats guidance on this race has proably cost Ferguson the race. Talk to the Mudcat that Ferguson has for his advisor for long and his mouth is as filthy as the place his namesake likes to reside. He thinks its cute but it turns most off.

Ferguson threw himself in with Mr. Stanley also, better known for being a sworn enemy of Virgil, and that only
plays so far in Franklin County. His fake webite is inventive but I wouldn't want to be a Ferguson asking Vince Callahan for help. Ferguson has said he is proud of the site and he has hurt himself with many voters by not taking it down.

    This one is over.

I think that site may have been a little over the top enough to hurt him. The bird crapping Morgan Griffith probably didnt help either.

The incestuous nature of your readers comments are ridiculous. Republicans stroking republicans...SHOCKER!

Count Ferguson out and you might have a tasty heap of humble pie to eat on Tuesday night!!!

We shall see anon, but I think Ferguson's best shot is '07 and he needs to raise more money and not run a wesbite like that again.

How about he puts one up about a dim-wit kid who fancies himself a pndit. You're nuts if you think Dudley is getting 54+ on Tuesday.

It's fine to speculate, but seriously, what do you know about this race.

Do you know anyone in either campaign office?

How many local news stories have you read, I'm talking Franklin News Post here.

That website is inside baseball, just like this site and NLS.

Not a tremendous amount, but I think Dudley will get 55-56%. The district makeup plus the over-the-top site will help him win.
Even so, Ferguson is obviously a strong candidate with the support he is getting. I think with more money and no statewide races, he would have a much better shot (as do all dems in GOP districts and vice-versa).
By the way, I have never claimed to be a pundit. I just give my opinion and you can take it or leave it.

The mood for Dudley is not good in Rocky Mount right now. The district has changed and there are many new voters. Allen may win, but he will be sweating out poll returns. Ferguson could have put this away with a strictly positive campaign, because the district was unhappy with Dudley.
