Smoking Ban Bill
The RTD is reporting that a indoor smoking ban proposed by Brandon Bell has passed committee in the Senate. It now goes to the full Senate for a vote. The 5 Senators voting against it in Committee were Houck, Martin, Newman, Ruff and Rerras. Good for those guys.
I have always believed it should be solely up to the owner of a facility at regulating smoking in indoor establishments, not the government.
Hopefully this bill will ultimately fail.

Amen! I'm not a smoker, never was, don't care do be around smoking, but I couldn't agree with you more. If smoking is legal - the Government should be very cautious with bans to where a person can and cannot smoke. I'm sick of the fad legisation that every city and state seems to be adopting regarding bans of smoking in resturants.

I'll chime in here too, I think smoking bans should be left up to the owners of the establishments.
If we can justify banning smoking based on the health risks, then we're not too far from banning drinking and obesity.

Philsophically, I'm strongly against this...
But, as a non-smoker, I can't say I'd shed any tears if it passed.
Never happen in Virginia...

A similar bill was proposed last year and it failed.
I would expect the same thing again.
Glad to see agreement from the left, middle and right on this one.
