Government Shutdown...
...but its not in Virginia. New Jersey has shutdown the gov't over a spar between democrats on taxes and how to bridge a budget shortfall. I guess we now see that Republicans and democrats aren't the only ones who can't agree.
NJ dems can't agree with NJ dems. Perhaps their party's divide will help Tom Kean Jr. defeat Bob Menendez in this year's senate race.

Help me understand - if the VA legislature is controlled by GOPers (as it is) then didn't we have Rs who couldn't agree with Rs?
Where's the D-R divide of which you speak?

Republicans in the House didnt agree with the GOP Senate and the dem governor. Remember, the governor proposes the budget; the legislature approves it.

Um, Hokie, all branches produce a budget proposal. That's what the fight was over.

The governor puts forth a proposal, but of course each branch then says what the want to have.
The governor still technically proposes the budget.
