Fundrace in the 24th
The finance reports are out, and there is more bad news for Senate challenger Scott Sayre. After having Del. Landes and Congressman Goodlatte endorse his opponent incumbent Senator Emmett Hanger; now he is in deeper trouble.
The financials look like this:
Raised:
Emmett Hanger: $232,321.38 ($87,864 this period)
Scott Sayre: $152,707.71 ($85,504.76 this period)
Cash on Hand:
Emmett Hanger: $111,364.22
Scott Sayre: $30,999.84
As you can see, Hanger is crushing Sayre by almost a 4-1 margin going into the home stretch. In fact, over half of Sayre's fundraising this period came from a $50,000 donation from millionaire GOPer Walter Curt (I only bring this up since the Sayre folks made a big deal out of the 25k Hanger received from Jimmy Hazel's Leadership for Va PAC last period).
Sayre better hope the grassroots can really deliver, if he has any hope of winning this one.
I will do analysis of the other races later tonight or tomorrow.
UPDATE: Hange has received an additional $30,000 from Leadership for Va PAC. I guess Jimmy Hazel doesn't want Walter Curt to beat him out on contributions here.

Isn't it more relative that Scott stayed with Emmett again in fund raising? Emmett started out with a pile of cash?
From what you provide here Emmett only outraised Scott by $2K this period?
and as God as my witness today, a little old lady with a walker met me as I was leaving the office today with flyers for door-to-door.
She handed me a $5 donation, and promptly went two blocks down the street to vote for Scott, on the last day of absentee, in person voting at Staunton City Hall.

STD, thats why I gave the fundraising reports; so everyone could see Emmett only outraised Scott by 2k (although as I pointed out, thats easy to do when you get 50k from one person).
At any rate, Emmett had a 3.5-1 cash advantage with 12 days to go. Thats the big factor here.

I disagree, largely because there are only twelve days left. In a state senate race, you can only do so much (and thus need only so much money) in the home stretch. Unless Hanger is looking to buy a TV ad or something, I sincerely doubt he can put his extra 80K to much use in the final two weeks.

If I were Emmett, I'd keep that $$ in the bank... and collect all the more between now and the 12th....

Scott Sayre has recently distributed a couple of mailers that smack of election fraud and an attempt to confuse and dismantle Hanger's core support.
The mailers can be found here:

You can do with this what you will.

Fraudulent mailers?
This coming from another anonymous blogger defending an incumbent who sent out a piece saying that no in state tuition goes to illegals from the bill he authored?
No wonder this blog, just like the infamous Bloggers 4 Hanger (which Emmett himself pulled the plug on) is anonymous in the first place.
At least when Myron plunges into the sewer he puts his name to it.
