Elephant Ears

This blog is dedicated to the political happenings in the Valley and Southwest Virginia. As the the name implies, this blog will have posts based on what is heard by this elephant's (GOPer's) ears. It is also a great treat to get while at the county fair or a carnival.

Graduation Tomorrow

I haven't been very active with the blog lately as I have been finishing up school and planning my Vegas trip.
Graduation is tomorrow and Saturday and I will be going to Las Vegas from Monday-Thursday.

Don't be surprised if I don't have any posts for at least the next week.

Congrats to everyone graduating from VT!

Politician? Guess you can't give out too much info. Maybe you should join the multitude of people running for Clerk of Rockingham Co!!!! Enjoy graduation and Vegas--be sure to eat at the MGM Rain Forest Cafe.

6:16, I will be working at a bank in the Valley.
6:52, my entrance into the clerk's race will be predicated on how much I lose in Vegas. I may need the job to get myself out of debt :)

Screw the Rain Forest Cafe- you can eat at one of those at any mall built in the 90's across the entire country.

While in Vegas- remember- gambling is only half the fun. Hit the nite clubs, bars, pools (i can't stress checking out the pools enough- you'll see more plastic there than at a tupperware factory), and other attractions.

Be sure and stop for a minute one day and ponder, 'how the hell can any student at UNLV actually get an education with all the action of LV, NV two blocks down the road?' The answer is they can't. Tuition and book money can provide for one fun night in Vegas.

Be sure to go to the Pink Taco in the Hard Rock Hotel.

Hit the roller coasters at the NY/NY and the Stratosphere.

Definitely take a half day to go down to the old down town strip (actually its the up-town strip)- both for nostalgia and for the $.50 Miller Lites. That area can be a life saver when you've blown all your money the first night and you still have a couple days left on your trip. (I'm sure you are uttering to yourself now, "there is no way I'm going to blow all my money the first night". I've said those same words forty or fifty times. Don't think it can't happen to you.

Also- after about your first hour or so, definitely ask the local pit boss to 'rate you'. Doesnt matter if you have spent $50 by that time, or $5,000. Get the house to start tracking your playing time and money won/lost.

Lastly- enjoy every bite of that 20 oz. Porterhouse with the double Lobster Tails. It'll be the best $4.99 you ever spent.

    Hey BOBBNDB,

There's actually a place called the "Pink Taco?"

    Wow. How great is that?

Isn't the Hard Rock Hotel "out in the boonies" or am I getting it confused with something else. What is a Pink Taco? Cheers!!!!
